Join CARE in our heartfelt pursuit of ensuring equitable cancer treatment for all, regardless of financial constraints.

On a heartfelt mission:

— To provide personal, emotional, and financial support to individuals diagnosed with cancer

The American Cancer Society estimates that in 2023, nearly 1.9 million individuals will be diagnosed with cancer for the first time. The state of California is estimated to be the home to more than 192,000 of these individuals making it the state with the highest number of new cases of cancer in 2023.

Projects

CARE provides resources for cancer diagnosis and treatment that are currently unavailable to people without insurance or other financial resources. Here are some of the projects we are involved in:

  • CARE provides funding for cancer patients to facilitate transportation to/from provider locations/clinical settings for those who can’t afford or coordinate rides to cancer treatments. This includes transportation for access to regular XRT treatments and is particularly vital for those patients who live in rural communities at a great distance from & without immediate access to cancer treatment provider locations.

  • CARE provides funding for therapeutic yoga classes at specific locations. This type of yoga is a slow-paced healing practice using gentle poses and movements along with breath work, guided imagery, and props for atmosphere of total relaxation. These classes are tailored to fit the unique physical and emotional needs associated with cancer and its treatments.

  • CARE provides funding for cancer patient & survivor lymphatic therapy costs which are often not covered by Medicare/Insurance; such as multi-layer compression system bandages, wraps, medical supplies, therapy, bioimpedance measurements and custom compression garments. These lymphatic therapy resources are vital to managing lymphedema, an incurable swelling that dramatically alters the lives of many cancer survivors - up to 10 million Americans and hundreds of millions worldwide, suffer from lymphedema and lymphatic diseases (per Lymphatic Education & Research Network).

  • CARE exists to provide resources for cancer diagnosis and treatment for people without insurance or other financial resources.

  • CARE provides funding for cancer patients & survivors for exercise classes, training and opportunities through multiple venues. There are more than 18 million cancer survivors in the US and more than 32 million survivors worldwide as of August 2023. Research indicates that the combination of aerobic exercise and strength training dramatically improves the quality of life and overall physical fitness for cancer survivors. From the management of cancer treatment side effects to the reduction in risk of developing additional cancers, the benefits of regular exercise are overwhelming and have been shown to greatly decrease ER visits, hospital stays and patient readmissions.

  • CARE is seeking to provide advanced medical technology to areas where this technology is not currently available; systems improving accuracy of care from heightened targeting and imaging to systems providing advanced delivery techniques making previously untreatable cancers now curable from new technology.
